The HD Beach Resort puts some of the town’s best bits right at your fingertips. Playa de los Charcos – a laidback sandy strip – is in front of the hotel, and the bar-filled town centre’s a 15-minute walk away. You can reach Aqua Park – a slide-filled waterpark – in five minutes by car, too.

Back at base, there are a few pools dotted around the grounds, along with a splash park for kids to play in. There’s a heated pool in the spa, too, where grown-ups can treat themselves to a head-to-toe pampering session. Food-wise, you can pile up a plate at the buffet, or pick from the international menu at the à la carte. When it comes to activities, everything from football and tennis to windsurfing and paddle-boarding are on the cards.
